OpendTect 3.2.1 released

It is our pleasure to announce the release of OpendTect v3.2.1.

This is a major new release with many interesting new capabilities and new plugins. Highlights in OpendTect base:

  1. Faults and attributes on faults
  2. Pre-stack visualization
  3. 3D Bodies and Polygons
  4. Madagascar processing flow builder
  5. Time-depth conversion (recursive attributes)
  6. Quick iso-chron maps
  7. Histograms and amplitude spectra
  8. Improvements for random lines, cross-plots, scaling and colors, horizon interpolation, data sub-selections, stratal amplitudes and much more.

There are two new commercial plugins supported in v3.2.1:

  1. Common Contour Binning (CCB; based on Wintershall technology)
  2. Multi-Point Stochastic Inversion (MPSI; by Earthworks / Ark cls).

Furthermore, there are major improvements in some existing plugins:

  1. SSIS: new interpretation module and new event-driven chrono-stratigraphy algorithm
  2. Neural Networks: Quick UVQ
  3. Dip-Steering: Event steering algorithm. 
 
Geothermal energy

dGB entered a new market segment with its involvement in the The Hague South West geothermal project. This high-profile project aims to provide central heating for approx. 6000 houses to be built in the city of The Hague. The project is carried out by a consortium of energy, housing and construction companies. We are involved in picking the well locations for producer and injector.

 
BG sponsors OpendTect project

BG Group is sponsoring a major OpendTect enhancement project to bring the software to a new level. In total 14 sub-projects are defined, covering visualization and performance enhancements and filling in  gaps in the functionality. All developments are in the open source part of the software. In other words BG's financial injection benefits the entire OpendTect community

Woodside joins SSIS II

We are pleased to announce that Woodside has joined our SSIS II consortium, which aims to enhance and extend dGB’s sequence stratigraphic interpretation system. The aim of SSIS II is to enhance and extend the software. This is done in a Joined Industry Project that apart from Woodside and dGB, consists of Wintershall,  ENI, BG Group, DNO, TNO and Dr. Brad Macurda. More...

Highlights are:

* New well log selection dialog
* Small enhancements and Bug fixes, a.o. the 'survey change crash' bug
