Paul de Groot is President & CEO of dGB. He worked ten years for Shell where he served in various technical and management positions. Paul subsequently worked four years as a senior research geophysicist for TNO Institute of Applied Geosciences before co-founding dGB in 1995. He has authored many papers covering a wide range of geophysical topics and co-authored a patent on seismic object detection. Together with Fred Aminzadeh Paul wrote a book on Soft Computing techniques in the Oil Industry. Paul holds MSc and PhD degrees in geophysics from Delft University of Technology.
Bert Bril is co-founder and head R&D of dGB. He began his career in 1988 as an acquisition geophysicist with Delft Geophysical. He switched to software development in 1991 and worked for Jason Geosystems until 1992. Then he worked at the TNO Institute of Applied Geoscience before co-founding dGB in 1995. He is the (co-)author of numerous papers covering geophysical and object-oriented software development topics. Bert holds an MSc in geophysics from Utrecht University.
Marketing
Jan Stellingwerff Beintema joined dGB as Senior Sales Manager in 2006. He is a Geoscientist with over 20 years of experience in various aspects of geology, geophysics and reservoir evaluation. In the beginning of his career, he worked for Western and Halliburton in the acquisition of geophysical borehole data. Then he worked 12 years for CGG in France, where he specialized in the petrophysical interpretation of full-waveform sonic data. Here he also became involved in the marketing and commercialization of their in-house geophysical software package. He holds a Msc in geology from Polytech' Montpellier.
Case study department
Geert de Bruin Senior Geoscientist, is working for dGB since 2004. He is the project leader of the second phase of the SSIS (Sequence Stratigraphic Interpretation System) development project. He is conducting sequence stratigraphic studies and is the (co-) author of numerous sequence stratigraphic articles. Furthermore, he is involved in seismic object detection and interpretation studies. Geert holds a MSc in sedimentary Geology from the Free University of Amsterdam, where he specialized in carbonate geology.
Arnaud Huck works as a Geoscientist for dGB since 2004. He quickly became indispensable in quantitative seismic studies, since he has extensive knowledge of GDI and Strata. He is involved in rock properties predictions, well simulations, impedance inversions, and AVO studies. Arnaud holds a MSc degree with honors in Geophysics from the School of Engineering Geophysics of Strasbourg.
Crepin Eric Bouanga joined the case study group of dGB in Enschede in March 2006 where he is involved in seismic interpretation studies and software testing. Before joining dGB, Eric worked 3 years in marine seismic data acquisition for Schlumberger Geco-Prakla. Eric holds an MSc in Marine Geology from Moscow Oil and Gas Academy.
Farrukh Qayyum joined dGB as a geoscientist in April 2008. He is involved in sequence stratigraphic interpretations, seismic object detection & interpretation studies. Before joining dGB, Farrukh worked as G&G Specialist for Schlumberger-SIS, Pakistan and before that he worked as a mud logger for Baker Hughes Inteq, Pakistan. Farrukh holds a M.Sc. in Geophysics and a M.Phil. with specialization in reservoir characterization and sequence stratigraphy from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan.
Software development department
Helene Huck is a geo-scientific software developer with dGB since 2004. Amongst others, she completely reengineered the attribute engine, and programmed various functionalities to improve the user friendliness. Helene studied engineering geophysics at Ecole et Observatoire des Sciences de la Terre in Strasbourg (France), and holds an MSc degree with distinction in Geophysics.
Jaap Glas joined dGB in 2005 as a geoscientific software developer for the OpendTect seismic interpretation environment. The epicenter of his interest and expertise concerns multidimensional data processing. He holds a M.Sc. degree, cum laude, in computer science from the University of Amsterdam, and a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Twente. His dissertation comprises fundamental research into the definition of geometrical edges on 3-D objects and their retrieval from camera images.
Bruno Chaintreuil joined dGB in October 2008 as a geo-scientific software developer. He studied engineering hydrography and geophysics at ENSIETA (Brest, France) and holds an MSc degree in marine geosciences. He performed his Master Thesis at dGB, working on advanced SSIS algoritms.
Karthika Sivaramakrishnan is a geo-scientific software developer at dGB since July 2009. She is involved in the development of the 3D visualization in OpendTect. She holds an M.Sc. degree in Software Systems Engineering from the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule, Aachen (Germany). Her areas of specialisation are data visualization and image processing. She has worked previously in software development for about 4 years.
