Sinogeo joins OpendTect SSIS II consortium |
|
Friday, 08 June 2007 |
| Sinogeo, China’s leading independent E&P contractor has joined the OpendTect SSIS II consortium, which aims to enhance and extend dGB’s sequence stratigraphic interpretation system. Mr. Jinming Zhou, President of Sinogeo, says: we introduced sequence stratigraphy in P.R. China and found a lot of oil that way. Unfortunately, much of this type work is done manually because of the lack of proper software tools to assist the interpreter. It is time consuming and impossible to test different scenarios. At the last SEG conference I saw dGB exhibiting their new OpendTect SSIS software and I knew this software would be very beneficial to our interpreters. We are very pleased to join the SSIS II consortium so that we can employ the current software and steer future developments to fit our needs. Given our specific expertise in this domain I am confident that Sinogeo’s input will be beneficial to the product. | | The aim of SSIS II is to enhance and extend the software. | | On April 30 2007 dGB offers a public Chimney course through SCA in Houston. The course will provides a method for detecting vertical hydrocarbon migration (chimneys) in 3D seismic data and demonstrate how the results can be interpreted to distinguish leaking (dynamic) faults from sealing (static) faults, to detect direct expulsion from source rock, and predict hydrocarbon phase. Based on studies of over 60 fields and breached traps, it will be demonstrated how chimney detection can be used to assess seal and hydrocarbon charge risk prior to drilling. Case studies from Gulf of Mexico, South Atlantic Basins, North Sea, Caspian, and Far East Basins will be shown. Please contact dGB or SCA if you want to register. | |
