OpendTect beta release 2.0.1

dGB released verion 2.0.1 of OpendTect for all operating systems except Solaris 2.6 and SGI IRIX. This new version features 2D seismic capabilities, fully integrated in the well known 3D environment. It also features the prototype of the horizon and fault tracker. We invite the open source community to provide dGB with valuable feedback on workflow and source code.

OpendTect Student Competition

dGB launched a Competition for students developing OpendTect plugins. The winner will receive $2.000 and the runner-up $ 500. Entries must be received before 1 Sep. 2005. Results will be announced at 75th SEG in Houston, Nov. 2005.
 
OpendTect release 1.2

OpendTect is now also supported on Mac-OS/X. Other highlights: Depth survey support and a new volume rendering engine. The Ark-cls plugin is upgraded to support well data I/O and with neural networks plugin it is possible to directly convert seismic data to well log properties, e.g. for creating a porosity volume. Kristofer Tingdahl received his PhD

Today Kristofer has received his PhD. His thesis covered "Semi-automated detection and extraction of seismic objects". Kristofer's research at the Goteborg university, Sweden, has been sponsored by dGB. Much of his work has become part of OpendTect.
