Training Courses

dGB offers 2-3 day training courses where participants are trained in all aspects of OpendTect. A range of cutting edge techniques is explored: seismic attribute analysis, seismic object detection (fault detection, fluid migration / chimney detection), seismic clustering, seismic filtering and data enhancements, and sequence stratigraphy. Training manuals and a data set from the Dutch North Sea are all provided.

The standard training can be customized by putting more emphasis on a specific subject of interest, or by extending the training with consultancy work. Typically, an extended course takes 5 days: one day preparation / set-up / testing, two days training on the test data set and two days work on proprietary data sets. At the end of the week the participants are fully trained in OpendTect and plugins and they have generated various OpendTect products on their own data sets.

Seismic attributes & Neural Networks for geological interpretation

May 6
Houston, USA
Costs: $750,- per person. University staff & students: 50% discount.

By Friso Brouwer

Seismic attributes and Neural Networks are the tools of choice to put geology into seismic interpretation. This course gives the participants an overview of the current state of affairs in seismic attributes and neural networks. Examples are given of typical attributes used in current day interpretation workflows and how to make the link to geology and the petroleum system. At the hand of real data examples it is shown how to select the appropriate seismic attributes and how to fine-tune attribute responses. At the end of the course the participant will be able to understand seismic attributes and neural networks, QC contractor results and independently do basic interpretation using seismic attribute and NN results. A handout with all course material will be provided. Recommended follow-up course: OpendTect + plug-ins (hands-on)

OpendTect, Dip-Steering & Neural Networks

May 7 - 8
Houston, USA

By Friso Brouwer

Participants are trained in all aspects of OpendTect: seismic attribute analysis, seismic object detection (fault detection, fluid migration / chimney detection), seismic clustering, seismic filtering and data enhancements. After the course participants will be able to independently operate the OpendTect interpretation system, dip-steering and neural network plug-ins.Training manuals and a data set from the Dutch North Sea are all provided. Recommended in combination with: Seismic attributes & Neural Networks for Geological Interpretation and HC Migration, Seal & Charge Assessment using Seismic Data.

Universities

Universities can get free access to GDI and the commercial plugins to OpendTect: dip-steering, neural networks (by dGB) and workstation access (by ARKCLS) by simply signing an R&D agreement. More...

Sponsoring Opportunities

For several projects sponsoring of sub-projects is possible, which enables sponsors to set priorities and match available funds with user priorities.
